History

The name Kindy is the Australian short word for "Kindergarten".  In1998, Katja Sorger, the founder of the school, moved to Brazil from Australia with her two children, and as soon as she arrived in São Paulo, she noticed how tough it was to find a school that could guarantee their kids would maintain their fluency in English. Being a pre-school teacher for over 15 years, Katja decided that by creating her own school, she'd be able to ensure her kids had quality bilingual education.

Now, over 20 years later, Kindy sets the standard in bilingual education in Brazil and to attend all of the requests from our parents, we've expanded to primary and middle school so that their children can continue to benefit from our unique education system and methods, that provides individualized attention to all of our students.

HOUSING SYSTEM

Kindy's Housing System places each child in one of our three different Houses: Orlando, New York and Los Angeles. It was developed based on the British educational system, that defends that by placing students in different teams and exposing them to daily competition, they are more likely to develop skills such as team work, community awareness, leadership and fair play.

Along with their Houses, our students take part in competitions involving sports, arts, climate issues, and community service.

Students are also capable of earning points for their houses during regular day-to-day class activities.

At the end of every school year, the total points for each house is added up, and the winners are announced during our end of year ceremony.
